Sustainability has always been a sound business strategy, but its importance has become even more pronounced in light of the worsening global climate crisis. As a result, organizations of all kinds are increasingly embracing efforts to reduce, reuse, recycle, and repair in order to preserve the natural resources we all rely on.
As we look ahead to the 2023 E-Reuse & E-Scrap Conference, we remain committed to prioritizing sustainability throughout the event. From showcasing innovative strategies and businesses to working with attendees, sponsors and exhibitors to raise awareness and demonstrate climate consciousness, we're dedicated to making this event a platform for promoting a more sustainable future.
Sustainability in the Industry
The E-Reuse & E-Scrap community is dedicated to recognizing sustainable innovation and businesses that might otherwise go overlooked. For example, last year's E-Reuse Conference Innovation Award winner, Red Wolf Technology, is a startup developing a way to salvage scratched displays.
In 2021, the Innovation Award went to Framework for their modular laptop, which can be easily repaired, upgraded and customized using modular components. Framework's approach to sustainable consumer electronics design earned them a place on Time Magazine's list of 100 Best Innovations in 2021, and Fast Company included the Framework Laptop on their list of the Most Innovative Companies of 2022.
Other organizations in the industry, such as iFixit, have been instrumental in encouraging manufacturers like Dell, Microsoft, Apple, Samsung, HP, Motorola and others to make their products easier to recycle by using less glue and publishing service repair manuals for disassembly. These efforts help to promote sustainable practices across the industry and reduce e-waste.
Sustainability is our focus
The 2023 E-Reuse & E-Scrap Conference will continue our tradition of showcasing organizations that prioritize sustainability. From repair and refurbishment to recycling and reuse, the most innovative ideas and solutions will be on display in September at one conference.
But that's not all. We've taken several steps over the years to conserve, preserve, and recycle. For example:
-
We reduce paper waste by making most informational and promotional materials accessible electronically through the Conference App.
-
We save hundreds of gallons of water each year by providing refreshment stations for attendees to refill their own water bottles and coffee mugs.
-
We divert waste from landfills by setting up collection bins to separate recyclables, trash and food items.
-
The event hosts multiple meetings in one location, reducing the need for separate, individual meetings and associated travel.
How Attendees, Sponsors, and Exhibitors Can Participate
We invite attendees, sponsors, and exhibitors to join us in promoting sustainability and reducing their environmental impact. Here are some ways you can participate:
-
Opt for giveaways made of recycled materials and donate or reuse any remaining giveaways at the conclusion of the event.
-
Work with show organizers to explore opportunities for incorporating sustainability into conference activities.
-
Reuse and recycle materials like signage.
-
Use fewer printed materials and instead use QR codes to share information or link to digital content.
-
Use the Conference App to access conference materials and stay informed.
-
Coordinate with business partners, customers, and colleagues to schedule annual meetings at the 2023 E-Reuse & E-Scrap Conference.
By promoting sustainability, businesses can realize significant returns by lowering costs through waste reduction. Attendees can also save by selectively scheduling conference activities and focusing on networking opportunities that will have lasting benefits. We hope you will join us in our efforts to make the conference a sustainable and environmentally responsible event.
